Our Approach

The people and research behind Xaia

Where We Started

From clinical research to everyday care

Xaia began with a problem Dr. Omer Liran, a psychiatrist and AI researcher, knew firsthand. Too much of his day went into work that kept him away from caring for his patients. He looked for solutions that might help, but every tool he tried added friction to his workflows instead of taking it away. So he decided to take matters into his own hands.

  1. The Beginning

    Shaped in the lab

At Cedars-Sinai’s Health Systems Transformation Lab, Omer and his team spent years refining the technology through clinical studies and feedback from patients and providers, until it held up in real care.

  2. The Middle

    Built to scale

Omer and his co-founder, Gabe Zetter, spun the technology out of the lab and founded Xaia, turning research tools into a platform that could reach more practices and the patients they serve.

  3. Today

    Live in practice

Xaia now serves as the operational backbone for specialty practices with complex patients and courses of treatment, helping them grow and deliver more personal, attentive care without adding overhead.

Our Mission

Our mission is to extend the reach of clinicians by taking on the work that slows down specialty care, so patients can stay supported between appointments, providers can focus on clinical judgment, and practices can deliver more sustainable care.

Our Research & Partners

A platform rooted in research

Anything that touches patient care should have to earn trust first. That standard shaped Xaia long before it was a company, and it still shapes how we build today.

  • Evidence

    Tested in peer-reviewed studies

The Health Systems Transformation Lab at Cedars-Sinai has conducted multiple peer-reviewed studies using Xaia’s technology, often in collaboration with researchers from leading institutions like Stanford, UCLA, and the Mayo Clinic.

The resulting publications have landed in journals including Nature Digital Medicine, the Journal of Cyberpsychology, and more.

  • Patients

Shaped by the people who use it

Thousands of patients have used Xaia, beginning with its earliest versions in the lab. They see what clinicians and engineers can’t: what it’s like to receive care with this technology involved.

Their feedback shows us where AI genuinely helps in everyday care and where the experience still falls short. What they tell us goes straight into what we build next.

  • Expertise

    Built by clinicians and researchers

We work side by side, so every decision accounts for what’s right for patients, what we can build well, and what works for a practice day to day.

The same team that builds Xaia also sets it up in each practice and supports it long after launch.

    Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer

“As a psychiatrist, I saw how much patients needed beyond the time we had together. I wanted to give clinicians more time for care and patients support they could turn to between appointments. Xaia is how we’re bringing that work beyond the lab.”

Omer is a psychiatrist, AI researcher, and full-stack developer who has been writing code since he was eight. He co-directs the Health Systems Transformation Lab at Cedars-Sinai, where Xaia began, advises the FDA on digital health and AI, and previously taught psychiatry at UCLA. At Xaia, he leads product and engineering.

“The best care I’ve ever gotten came from doctors who had time to really know me. That shouldn’t be a luxury. Xaia is our bet that technology can make that kind of attention normal again, for patients and for the clinicians who want to give it.”

Gabe is a repeat founder with over a decade of experience building companies at the intersection of emerging technology, storytelling, and human wellbeing. He previously launched and led Parallux, a Techstars-backed interactive design company whose clients included Netflix, Meta, and Amazon. At Xaia, he leads strategy, partnerships, and growth.

    Chief Operating Officer

“My dream is a healthcare system that works well for all people. I studied how care actually gets delivered (and doesn’t), and kept landing on the same two problems: access and continuity. Xaia makes care easier to reach and keeps it continuous and coordinated, so that no one falls through the cracks.”

Angela has spent more than a decade running operations for mission-driven startups, including as a fractional COO. She holds an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. At Xaia, she leads operations, brand, and customer success, including how new practices get started with Xaia.
